The Oliver-Campbell Cane Mud Filter: is a heavy-duty filter engineered and designed to increase savings and efficiency by greatly increasing the amount of recovered sugar. Hundreds of satisfied mill owners are the best proof that an O-C filter station literally pays for itself through this high sucrose recovery as well as adding further savings in evaporation costs and reduced maintenance. To O-C Filter has proven its worth for several decades. The Cane Sugar Industry has become so impressed by its economic and efficient operating advantages that factories all over the world continues to adopt the O-C method of handling cane muds as "standard practice." The initials O-C stand form much more that just a filter. Oliver-Campbell means a rugged--properly engineered complete filtration station. Dorr-Oliver engineers have a thorough understanding of the processing of Cane Sugar and broad experience in all types of filtration and clarification. They are in a position to properly integrate the Cane Mud Filter with the most suitable type and size auxiliary equipment so the entire installation is engineered for efficient and economical operation.
Operation: The drum is designed to rotate slowly through the juice and settlings in the filter tank. The drum is constructed of individual filtering sections. Vacuum is applied to each section as it becomes submerged in the mud by an automatic and adjustable filtrate valve. The liquid (juice) is drawn through the filter medium, leaving the mud to form a uniform cake on the drum face. As the cake rises with the drum rotation, an adjustable division in the automatic valve permits the application of higher vacuum to the cane causing the wash water to rapidly displace the sucrose liquor. The cake is discharges as dry as possible. A flexible scraper gently drops the cake into the discharge trough. This entire operation is continuous, automatic and simple.
| BENEFITS | FEATURES |
|---|---|
| Greater hydraulic capacity with resulting dryer cake. | Increased deck depth due to grid type design, larger diameter internal piping and high capacity filtrate valve. |
| Minimal maintenance costs. | Stainless stell materials used for the drum shell, division and end strips, internal piping, filtrate valve and perforated screens, with polypropylene grid type decking as standard materials. |
| More uniform cake moisture. | Internal piping with juice inlets spaced across the full length of the filter. |
| Higher sugar recovery. Reduced eveaporation requirements. |
High efficiency displacement washing proces and nozzle spray design, reducing pol losses to a minimum. |
| Labor savings. | Continuous automatic operation. |
| Complete package unit at lowest possible cost. | All filters include these accessories as standard equipment: Cover cleaning shower pipe with brass nozzles located at the back side of th filter for periodic washing of the filter drum. Wash water strainer. Automatic lubrication system. Repair kit and installation tools. Totally enclosed motors. Vari-speed integral motor for drum drive. |
Service: The Oliver-Campbell Filter is constructed of high-grade materials with quality workmanship, and therefore, will give trouble-free operation for many years. Furthermore, when you buy and O-C Filter you receive engineering advice on operation, installation and maintenance for the entire filter station. Our engineers and representatives are located throughout the world and are ready to help you on any filtration problem.
Auxiliary Equipment for the Complete Filtration System: The success of the Oliver-Campbell cane mud installations is largely due to the care given the design, selection, layout and installation of filter auxiliaries. The auxiliaries developed by Dorr-Oliver engineers for use in the cane sugar industry are illustrated above. Dorr-Oliver engineers will work closely with your own engineers to be sure that the auxiliaries are integrated with the O-C Filter to meet your particular requirements.
