Control Systems Murray offers hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic control systems to position either a single control valve or multiple control valves. |

Hydrodynamic Sleeve Bar ![]() |
Trip System Murray turbines are supplied with overspeed trip systems operated by centrifugal force, which activates the trip linkage, closing a trip valve which stops steam flow to the turbine. On high speed applications, redundant electronic overspeed trip switches are used to assure reliability. |
|
Thrust Bearings hydrodynamic tilting pad type thrust bearings are supplied to axially position the rotor. |
Journal Bearings Two journal bearings align and supporth the rotor assembley. Babbited hydrodynamic sleeve bearings, pressure dam or tilting pad bearings can be supplied as conditions warrant. |
|
Bearing Housings Bearing housings are internally drilled to supply oil under pressure to both the journal and thrust bearing surfaces. Steel steam deflectors and bronze labyrinth type oil seals prevent contamination in the housing. Air or gas purge connections are suppled to further prevent contamination. |
Steam Sealing Systems Turbine glands and interstages are sealed with spring backed carbon ring seals or labyrinth seals. Shaft sealing areas are protected with stainless steel plating, stainless steel sleeves, or nickel plating. Gland leakoffs with a gland condenser can be supplied to minimize steam leakage and sealing steam can be used to prevent air from entering condensing turbines. |
|
Valves Single or multiple inlet control valves are available. Multiple inlet valves utilize an "in line" push rod, power cylinder to valve lifting bar, with a push rod equalizing yoke assembly. Multiple inlet valves provided improve part load efficiency and control sensitivity. |
||
First Stage Nozzle Block Nozzle block can be drilled and reamed or utilize inserts. Nozzles utilize a converging/diverging design and are grouped under handvalves to allow optimum efficiency. Other options are available. |

Blades Impulse blading made from stainless steel or titanium utilize "T" root or "fir tree" disc attachments. Blade vibrations and stresses are analyzed with Campbell and Goodman diagrams. Blades are shrouded to dampen vibration and contain steam flow. |

Rotors Rotors are precision ground over the entire length with discs that are proportioned to uniformly distribute stresses. Discs are statically balanced prior to being shrunk and keyed to the shaft. For higher speeds or temperature, a solid forged rotor with shaft and wheels integrally forged is supplied. The shaft in the gland sealing area is protected with stainless steel plating, stainless steel sleeves, or nickel plating to resist corrosion. |

Turbine Generator Sets In addition to our multi-stage mechanical drive turbines, Murray offers a wide selection of packaged turbine generator sets to 10,000 KW. The typical unit is designed with a multi-stage turbine directly connected through a flexible coupling or through a single reduction gear box to a synchrounous or induction generator, all mounted on a welded steel base. Basic control packages are included for the specific application. |
Turbine Accessories Muray will package lubrication systems, surpervisory systems, control panels and surface condensers providing you with a single source for you application. A full compliment of vibration probes, bearing temperature sensors, gauges, switches, transmitters, etc. can be supplied to meet requirements. |
|
Lubrication Systems The lubrication system can be supplied integral with the turbine baseplate, or as a separate, freestanding console. Critical operations should consider a system of redundant components. |
Supervisory Systems Systems utilize totally electronic, state-of-the-art arrangements or simple gaugeboards for local monitoring. |
|
Control Panels Both local and remote panels are available to monitor and maintain turbine performance in conjunction wiht plant operations. |
Surface Condensers For condensing applications, skid mounted surface condensers can be supplied in accordance with customer requirements. |
